Uncle John came home from Australia when I was little, before this I had never met any of my Dad's brothers as they all emigrated before I was born. After he and Aunt Pat had come home my Dad organised visiting them as they were very alike to me as a child. We were up visiting them and had gone out for the day (I cant remember where, might have been a museum in London) I got scared by something and went to grab what I thought was my Dad's hand only to discover it was Uncle John's. They both thought this was hilarious and teased me about it for the rest of the day...
I will also miss hugely my fellow family history enthusiast. I would never have found out so much about our family without the help of Uncle John...

A childhood memory from John's sister Margaret:
John and I were closest, I remember both of us deciding before we went to school what we could do to please our mum when she came home from her early morning shift. One day we put the sheets on to wash for her, not realising that someone had gone to bed in socks blue ones! snd lost one in bed, which had not been spotted, and all the washing was blue!!
